Q. I cut my hair really short, and now that it's growing in it's curlier than before. Why? And can I do something to get it back to normal again?

A. Generally, cutting your hair short won't change how it grows in. Hair growth is influenced by hormones and the shape of the follicle. It may appear curlier when it is shorter, because there is less length to weigh it down. If your hair is coming in curly, I would suggest a straightening styling balm to soften the curl. But if you want to go more extreme, a mild chemical straightener is ideal. Just comb it through the hair for 15-20 minutes and check. For more straightening, leave on five more minutes.
